Savannah was born and raised in Morristown, New Jersey. She obtained her B.A in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Franklin and Marshall College in the spring of 2022. During her undergraduate studies, she worked under Prof. Edward Fenlon supporting the development of a new tool to study RNA folding using 2D IR. She pursued the synthesis of deoxyuridine with an isotopically middle-labeled azide at the 5-methyl position of deoxyuridine. The nucleotide would then be incorporated into an RNA hairpin with a second vibrational reporter group by collaborator Dr. Ronald Micura and undergo 2D IR studies by collaborator Dr. Matthew Tucker.
