Welcome to the Kim Group. Our group develops synthetic methods and explores mechanisms that enable site-selective functionalization of complex molecules like carbohydrates, glycans and natural products. We are interested in understanding the selectivity relationships that emerge from higher-order structure in order to predict, subvert and control existing reaction selectivity trends through catalyst design. Students who join the group can expect to develop expertise in reaction development, mechanistic analysis and complex molecule synthesis.
